Featured Photog: Amelia Lyon

As a photographer and an artist I strive to always be evolving, learning getting better at my craft. One of the ways I do this is by finding photographers I admire... figuring out exactly WHY I admire their work and what I can learn from it. I am going to start regularly featuring these photographers here on my blog. The first installment is about one of my absolute favorites... Amelia Lyon.

Some things I LOVE about their style...

Shallow dof giving thier images a great amount of depth
That classic film grain, in an artistic way not a "my camera cannot shoot in the dark" way
The emotion behind thier portraits, every one moves you. Makes you feel SOMETHING about their subjects
Creative appearance of shadows within sessions
Unique yet flattering angles
Relaxed nature of their formal portraits
Utlization of natural light
Isolation of a single object/focus
